This is my first introduction for a male blog, and I'm very happy to introduce to you all Phil from Mirror Reality.
Over to you Phil;
Men and skincare haven't mixed for the longest time -still to this day even strangely-, and I found myself staring at a very limited amount of skincare options when I started out. There is this unspoken rule that men are only allowed to use hyper masculine packaged/named/smelling products, so you can imagine what I started out with. Being fairly clueless about the whole concept of skincare, I relied very much on the ruling of saleswomen. Now we can all agree that while some are great, others are absolutely horrible and give bad advice.
Visiting a dermatologist for various skin problems I was having at the time, got me curious as to what products would work for my skin, even if they weren't prescribed by a professional. Armed with my budding thirst for knowledge I set out to the drugstore with my allowance. Didn't take long for me to figure out there was so much trial & error going to be involved in discovering what worked, that I felt like keeping a log of it all. After some encouraging words from certain friends and a healthy dosage of alcohol, I signed up for a blog account.
As the weeks passed by and I became more familiar with ingredients and certain brands, I started expanding my territory to include department stores. There was some saving up involved so I had to research what I wanted beforehand. Things spiraled out of control and soon I found out that I actually love taking care of my skin. The hunt for skincare products became a hobby and I got quite a feel for it. Reviewing all of the products I bought was my way of giving back to the community of bloggers. Who hasn't decided a purchase based on reviews placed on your favorite relevant blogs?
Passing the one year milestone not too long ago I could tell that there was a market for my opinion. Even in my backyard 'Belgium' there wasn't anyone blogging purely about skincare. Makeup & fashion bases were covered in overflow almost, but skincare seemed like a filler post to some people. Not on my blog dare I say! With me the focus will always be to have fresh and healthy looking skin. How good will makeup & clothing look on your anyway, if you have bad skin? As of a few months ago I decided to pursue a job in the beauty industry. There's just something about it that tickles my fancy and I want to help people with what I know and learned.
Never fear to comment or contact me, I'm often enthralled when people write back that my advice and suggestions helped them.
Phil.
