John Frieda 3 Day Straight. A Review.

A couple of weeks ago I asked for a blogger on twitter with curly hair to review a product I'd been sent by the PR team for John Frieda.

If you are regular readers you've probably already noticed by now that my hair is poker straight so if was pointless for me to attempt to review it myself.

That product was;

John Frieda Frizz Ease 3 Day Straight.
  And the lovely blogger who helped me out was Miss Drifted Snow White.

So lets see what she had to say about it.
_________

"I didn't know what to expect when Ms Red said she had this product to test - all she said it was for curly hair and it would make hair straight - she had me at curly hair. Maybe I expected a sort of home-treatment version of the Brazilian blow-dry or something that normally is like a 3-day process?! I don't know. But upon reading the packaging when I got the product, I realised what this really is - ITS A HEAT PROTECTIVE SPRAY.

It's nice that it has a tiny, tiny asterix, that tells you your hair will be straight until your next wash

 SO BASICALLY LIKE ANY OTHER HAIR STRAIGHTENING SCENARIO

My hair remains straight with any heat protective spray and straightening until the next wash - that can be up to 5 days if I'm feeling lazy.

I cannot believe how misleading John Frieda is being with the naming of their product. It's basically just a MASSIVELY overpriced heat protective spray that helps your hair stay straight, just like any other spray you use when you straighten your hair. I've used a lot of different heat protective sprays, but never once was a product proclaiming to be 'semi-permanent,' if it lasts till your next wash, it's FOR SURE not semi-permanent!

Another thing I didn't like - and some other heat protective sprays have the same issue - it makes my hair feel really funky - some areas of my hair are beautifully smooth and then some areas, especially around the roots, are weird and sticky... But most of that did disappear after the straightening process.
 However... with all saying that... it does make your hair more frizz-resistant! While other sprays that protect your hair when straightening only do that and let your hair frizz up in no time once humidity goes too high, this stuff does keep your hair straight even when it's humid outside (tried and tested it in drizzly rain)... it feels like my hair greases up quicker :-(
 So to summarize;

Yes, it makes hair straight and silky smooth.

Yes, your hair remains silky smooth for 2 days.

No, it's not semi-permanent -- it lasts till your next wash... as in, after you wash your hair, you'll have your curls back.

No, it's not a chemical hair straightening treatment - you don't need to be scared or anything.

Would I buy it? Probably not!"
________

It sounds to me that this product hasn't done what it claims it will do, has anyone else tried it, and if so do you love it or hate it?

(With many thanks to my lovely reviewer and please everyone stop by her blog which can be found here.)

  1. I've got curly hair tried a few products from the Frizz-Ease range but haven't really liked any of them. I've never repurchased any of the ones I've tried - they never seem to do what they claim and are quite expensive!

  3. I have tried this product and absolutely love it, my hair is amazingly soft when using it and my hair stays straighter and glossier for longer, maybe it works well on different hair types? I will definitly be re-buying when I run out!! :)
