Pale skinned people can breathe a sigh of relief, well maybe.
As one of the aforementioned pale skins I find it hard to find a high street foundation that matches my whiter than white skin tone. Obviously I know if I go higher end I can get a match (although not always) but I can't always afford to buy expensive foundation.
So when checking out the offers in Superdrug a couple of weeks ago (buy 2 GOSH items get the 3rd free) I thought I'd give the GOSH Natural Touch foundation in shade 32 Pearl (the lightest) a go. (£8.99)
(More on the primer in another post)
I'm not sure why I went for Natural Touch as it's quite a lightweight foundation, and doesn't even claim to be long lasting, which is what I'd normally buy. But it might have been the promise of moisturising Sweet Almond Oil in the foundation that did it.
As you can see quite clearly here the foundation is yellow based, which is great for me as I've very little natural rosiness in my skin at all, so I can use this to even out my skin tone completely then add colour using blush.

(Top row - Cream Primer, Bottom row - Foundation)
It looks almost shockingly yellow/beige in the swatch above but once blended out it almost disappears into the skin in a 'my skin but better,' kind of way.(Blended out roughly)
And for those of you who need the full picture here is a photo of me wearing the foundation, I'm posing for a FOTD I'll be doing shortly. Unfortunately the foundation provided for that was far to dark so I had to sub mine instead.
Are there any other foundations you think are good for paler than pale people?

Wow, your skin looks flawless, what a bargain price for all those products. Can't wait for the review of the primer. Jude xx @jadlgw

I've used the GOSH Xceptional Wear in Porcelain and the colour was perfect for my pale, pale skin. I just didn't like the formulation for some reason.
ReplyDeleteBourjois do great paler than pale shades too.
At the moment I'm using a sample of Max Factor Xperience Weightless Foundation in (45) Raw Silk which again is perfect for my skin tone. What shocks me about this Max Factor range is that Raw Silk isn't the palest colour, there's one below it but it's a little too pale for me and that never happens with drugstore brands.
I am very pale and I love the Jackie Oates foundation from Lush. Only £7.50 and it is made for very pale skin with blonde or red hair. Don't need much either :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I love your hair! Yay for FOTD posts, please do them more often! :)xo
ReplyDeleteWOOOOOAAAAAAAAH thats pale!! It doesnt look that pale on the skin though. It looks nice :).

When I first saw the swatch on your hand I thought oh dear... but it looks lovely blended in, it's really natural looking.
ReplyDeleteI second the Xperience Foundation, I have Raw Silk too and I love the colour. I really struggled getting a foundation that didn't make me look dirty in a way, but the range of colours in this is amazing!!
ReplyDeleteUhhhh. . . Pale skin. I know. As far as drugstore brands go, I've used Maybelline Pure Makeup in the lightest shade and suprisingly it matched very well. Unfortunately, as happens with most of my favourites, it was discontinued. The Max Factor Weightless in light ivory looks a little to dark in the bottle, but it blends well and is a really nice full coverage which is surprisingly pale. I'm using Revlon Colourstay in Ivory, which is also a pretty close match, but smells disgusting =P
