Max Factor Lipfinity Lip Tint Pen

Saw this product in Boots today while I was on my lunch and it instantly got my attention because of it being a tint. I may have mentioned before (a few times) that I HATE the feel of lip sticks, can’t abide the stickiness of glosses and generally shudder at the thought of applying anything to my lips. But saying that there are times when, after getting all dolled up to go out I feel there’s something lacking when I admire (joke) the finished face in the mirror, and that something of course is any kind of colour on my lips…. so I end up looking undone.

That’s why the thought of a lip tint appeals to me, if the product is tinting your lips you won’t feel it on right? But you’ll still get the lovely colour.

I’m not to sure how many shades there are to be honest, Max Factors website (which the above picture will take you to) shows four shades but lists five shade names, but Boots website shows six shade names.

I swatched a couple on my hand to see the colours, from top to bottom the shades were;

03 Pink Princess
04 Berry Burst
06 Royal Plum
The colours look very pretty and 06 Royal Plum was very dark, much darker than the picture actually shows.. I’ve read the reviews on the Boots website and to be honest they weren’t great.. mostly issues with the lasting ability of the tints and this was one thing I thought about with them.

Okay the swatches have lasted all afternoon on the back of my hand, survived washing my hands and my long sleeves rubbing against them BUT lips are completely different. If you’re anything like me I worry my lips with my teeth when I’m thinking, or lick them a lot when talking, I do wonder if these tints could last up to that much activity and moisture and stay colourful.

I’ve got to admit to still being tempted to buy them though, at the moment Boots have a 3 for 2 on Max Factor products so I could get all three shades I’ve swatched. That’s £15.98 for three rather than £23.97. (at £7.99 each)

Any way here is the blurb from the Max Factor website:

Lipfinity Lip Tint Pen has a non-transferable water based formula that doesn’t just sit on top of your lips but permeates the upper layers for a stunning kiss-proof effect. And its nifty pen applicator is perfect for precise application so you can build up the colour as much as you dare or keep it light and simple – you’re in control!

If you’ve used them already I’d love to hear your experience.

  1. I have no.3 of this, I wouldn't say I love this product. It has a nice smell, kind of sweet and fruity, and i like the colour, its comes out like a deeper version of my natural lip colour. Downsides...even when i used it for the first time it had that feeling like it was running out and there is no way of getting more colour into the pen so I can see it being one of those products that feels like it's used up quite quickly. It also makes me lips feel quite dry so I always need to put a bit of lip balm over the top (if i put it under the stain doesn't go on)
