The Holy Grail of Blemish Control?

Garnier Pure Active Roll On. Is this the holy grail of blemish control?

I spotted this little thing in Boots one day while browsing, now normally I pass Garnier items over as I'm not 100% keen on their brand.

But what caught my eye this time was the fact it states that it contains 2% Salicylic Acid. which is A) great for fighting blemishes, B) the highest amount you can get in a product over the counter and C) is in roll on form and therefore stays on the skin working, not getting washed down the drain as it does when it's in scrubs or washes.

So what does Salicylic Acid do?

Well acne is formed when skin cells inside hair follicles shed too fast and clump together, plugging up the follicle and causing a pimple.

Salicylic acid helps slow down shedding of the cells inside the follicles, preventing clogging.

It also helps break down blackheads and whiteheads.

Hallelujah

I'd love to be able to say at my age that I don't get blemishes, but I do.. far to many for my liking to be honest, especially around my jaw/chin. So once I bought this little beauty and got it home I put it to use straight away.

I've been using it morning and night, on clean skin for a few weeks now and I can say that while my blemishes have not magically vanished (shame) I haven't developed any new ones and some of the stubborn congestion on my jaw that wouldn't shift for the world has started to clear.

That makes me a very happy girl.

A few words of caution, the product can sting due to the Salicylic Acid and it does have a drying effect on the skin (of course as it's drying the skin out)

But for £7.65 from Boots I am Very happy with the product and it's effects on my skin.

  1. yep I also got the spot treatment but the none roll on treatment because of the high % of Salicylic acid.

Really does work...but once it runs out I think I will have to get the roll on as I'm sure it's much more soothing with the ball being metal.

    Great post.
